One More Disney Day at Home

Like many others who were not able to attend today’s epic One More Disney Day at either the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland, I have been following my Twitter feed almost obsessively just waiting for updates/pictures/anything to help me feel like I am there. God knows, I am in spirit.

So, to honor the kid at heart spirit and my evening daydreaming/obsessive twittering, I’ve decided to have my own Disney Day at home. That is the whole idea behind my blog after all; finding ways to re-create some magic at my primary residence while I am away from my “home”!

One More Disney Day at Home Ideas…

*Corndog nuggets and cheese for dinner (reminiscent of Casey’s on Main St.)

*Popcorn (Nowhere close to the real thing, but hey, you do what you gotta do!)

*Listening to Magic 24.7 and Sorcerer Radio online (as well as my own MP3 collection)

*Watching ride-through videos from different rides

*Watching WDWRadioLive broadcasts from the parks

*Wearing my PJs (It is an all-nighter after all)

*Browsing pictures online

*Looking through my pin/Vinylmation collections

*Browsing eBay/Disneystore.com for merchandise

*Continuing my never-ending search for WDW background music to complete my collection (It will never be complete but, that’s the fun :) )

*Enjoying the Disney frame of mind :)

Happy One More Disney Day everyone! 8(:-D

Running and Disney

With the runDisney Princess Half-Marathon going on today, I’ve had the pleasure of reading a number of different inspirational stories and seeing some great pictures of the day’s event, as well as re-living my own Disney Half-Marathon experience.

(My team & I in front of the castle)

If you ran in today’s event, congratulations! I was so inspired that I decided to get back on the running “horse” myself and start up with the routine again- gotta get ready for the Disneyland Half this September! 8(:-D

Inspired by Disneybound

My husband excitedly announced to me today, up on arriving back at home after a meeting for camp councillors for this summer, that the Friday of camp week has been dedicated “character day”! After recently getting hooked on Pinterest and discovering Disneybound (talk about finding great ways to infuse your everyday life with a little bit of Disney magic!) , I’m inspired to find a cute way of recreating one of my favorite Disney characters via fashion for my interpretation of character day: Jiminy Cricket.

So I’m thinking I’ll need some kind of blue/gray hat with a band, a yellow scarf, some kind of vest/jacket (tails if possible), khaki capris, and some kind of yellow shoes. Possible jewelry accessories might include items that feature stars or umbrellas. Here’s something I just whipped up on polyvore.com for some ideas:

I’m loving the idea of finding subtle ways to add some “magic” to my everyday wardrobe!

To all who come to this happy place...

Welcome! OK, too cliche? Maybe too cliche.

To make a long story short, I love Disney. Not all things Disney- I don’t watch the Disney Channel. Radio Disney makes me twitch. The professional musician in me refuses to have anything to do with High School Musical. However, the movies, the stories, and the attention to detail and the general human condition are all things of which I enjoy.

Most of all, I love visiting the theme parks. Disney World has grown to become my second home. (Yes, just like every other WDW fanatic- I won’t pretend I’m original on that point.) Ever since I have started earning a sustainable income, my extra savings has gone towards taking trips “home” to WDW. When I’m not at WDW, I’m either doing laundry after having just returned, planning the next trip, or (most likely) doing both.

This blog isn’t about any of that though. After returning from my most recent trip to WDW, I began to scrutinize and wonder, why is it that things seem so much brighter in my “happy place”? I realized that one of the reasons I am happier in my “happy place” is because I maintain a different outlook on my day, on my lifestyle, than I do during my regular daily grind. And when I stared opening my perspective a little, I realized that I was experiencing the same situations in my everyday life that I was while vacationing, only I was handling them much differently. With a little perspective and a little pixie dust, I was able to laugh, live, and enjoy my regular schedule way more than I was beforehand.

And that is what this blog is ultimately about. I’m just another Disney fan, who has Disney deja vu moments in my everyday life. Every day might not necessarily be a Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah Day, but there really are lots of ways to live the magical life.
